Clickbait

As an incoming Freshman who is going to take College Writing 113, you should be excited. The class, for the most part, is very easy if you try. If you put in the effort, show up to class, and participate the class should be a breeze. If you do no put in the effort, do not show up to class, and be quiet as a mouse then you are setting yourself up to fail. The work, for the most part, is very straightforward it is either you do it or you do not its that simple.

For all assignments, there is a writing process. The process includes writing activities, drafting, peer review, and revision. Every step in the process helps out a lot in the final draft. Things you will enjoy in College writing 113 are the writing activities. The writing activities are designed to be a fun way to be able to write better. For example, in class, we all started to write a story and that story was passed around the class until it was finished. Most of the stories ended up as a funny story and were read out loud for the class here and enjoy a laugh. The purpose of this assignment was to be able to be creative and be quick on our feet to continue the story.

Other things that you will encounter in this class is a ton of peer review. Now when I first started I hated peer review because I did not want anyone criticizing my work because I already knew it was not good. As the year went on I started to like it because I felt it did help and especially coming up with new ideas to include in the essay. By the end of the semester though I learned to be careful on peer review. It came to my attention that many people in the class were very confused on an assignment that I knew what I was doing. So when we peer reviewed they were very critical because they thought I was wrong but in reality, they were. A very good piece of advice I can give is to be careful with who you listen to drying peer review because they could be giving you all the wrong advice.

The class, in my opinion, is super easy if you do all the assignments. There are not that many that take up too much time. I was able to complete an assignment for the class in fifteen to twenty minutes. On the papers, I usually take a week to write them because I do a little every day not to get smothered on the day before. Do not start an assignment the day before. You will more than likely not do well. Its up to you if the class is difficult or not. Don’t stress.
